Our Wedding

Rachel and Josué’s story began in Miami in March 2021. Two Cuban kids who had each left the island at different times and under different circumstances somehow found themselves meeting in the same city that had become home to so many like them. Rachel was born in Cuba but left at the age of three. She spent ten years in Mexico before moving to Miami at 13, where she built her life, career, and independence. Josué arrived in Miami at 15, beginning his own journey from Cuba and learning to adapt to a new world as a teenager. Years later, their paths crossed, and from the very first connection, there was something undeniably natural between them, like two lives that were always meant to find each other. At first, they told friends a little white lie about meeting through a mutual friend who played cupid. The truth was more modern: they met on Tinder. Josué swiped right because Rachel seemed like the total package. Extroverted, a family girl, down-to-earth, and those curls and curves? Right up his alley. Rachel swiped right because Josué checked all the boxes: handsome, Cuban, smart, and exactly her type to a T. From that first match, they started talking, and life just kept bringing them back to one another. What truly sealed the connection was Josué’s grand gesture — driving 16 hours straight from Washington, DC to Miami just to take Rachel out on a proper date. What was meant to be a short trip turned into over a year together in Miami, filled with love, laughter, and the kind of joy that only comes from finding your person. Together they built a life that was equal parts adventure and home. They traveled, shared late-night talks, cooked together, and formed a little family with Sydney, Rachel’s Bichon Frise. Sydney had been Rachel’s baby long before Josué came into the picture, but from the start, he stepped in as Dad. On September 4, 2024, while on a two-week trip to Spain, Josué planned the proposal of a lifetime. Pretending they were headed to a wine tasting, he led Rachel into Madrid’s Parque El Retiro, through the arches of La Rosaleda. There, in front of Cupid’s Fountain, with music playing and strangers watching, he asked her to marry him. Rachel said yes. A year later, on July 25, 2025, they made it official with a courthouse ceremony in Miami, surrounded by close family. It was simple, heartfelt, and perfect — a beautiful beginning to the next chapter. Now, they’re planning the wedding of their dreams, a destination celebration in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico in September 2026. For Rachel and Josué, Puerto Rico isn’t just a wedding destination. It’s a place that feels like home away from home, a land that mirrors their Cuban roots with its music, warmth, and history, while also embracing the life they’ve built together in the U.S.

Our Story

La historia de Rachel y Josué comenzó en Miami en marzo de 2021. Dos cubanos que habían salido de la isla en distintos momentos y bajo diferentes circunstancias terminaron encontrándose en la misma ciudad que se había convertido en hogar para tantos como ellos. Rachel nació en Cuba, pero salió a los tres años. Pasó diez años en México antes de mudarse a Miami a los 13, donde construyó su vida, su carrera y su independencia. Josué llegó a Miami a los 15 años, comenzando su propio recorrido desde Cuba y aprendiendo a adaptarse a un nuevo mundo en plena adolescencia. Años después, sus caminos se cruzaron, y desde esa primera conexión hubo algo naturalmente especial entre ellos, como dos vidas que siempre estaban destinadas a encontrarse. Al principio contaban una pequeña mentirita, diciendo que se habían conocido gracias a una amiga que hizo de cupido. La verdad era más moderna: se conocieron en Tinder. Josué deslizó a la derecha porque Rachel parecía tenerlo todo. Extrovertida, familiar, sencilla, con rizos y curvas, justo su tipo. Rachel deslizó a la derecha porque Josué cumplía con todo lo que buscaba: guapo, cubano, inteligente y exactamente su estilo. Desde ese primer match comenzaron a hablar, y la vida seguía juntándolos. Lo que realmente consolidó la conexión fue el gran gesto de Josué: manejar 16 horas seguidas desde Washington, DC hasta Miami solo para invitar a Rachel a salir. Lo que debía ser un viaje corto se convirtió en más de un año juntos en Miami, lleno de recuerdos, viajes y la certeza de que habían encontrado el amor de sus vidas. Juntos construyeron una vida que era igual parte aventura e igual parte hogar. Viajaron, compartieron risas infinitas y formaron una familia con Sydney, la Bichon Frise de Rachel. Sydney era su bebé antes de conocer a Josué, quien rápidamente se convirtió también en su papá. El 4 de septiembre de 2024, durante un viaje de dos semanas a España, Josué planeó cuidadosamente la propuesta de su vida. Fingiendo que iban a una cata de vinos, llevó a Rachel al Parque del Retiro de Madrid, hasta los arcos de La Rosaleda. Frente a la Fuente de Cupido, con música sonando y extraños alrededor, le pidió matrimonio. Rachel dijo que sí. Un año después, el 25 de julio de 2025, lo hicieron oficial con una ceremonia civil en el courthouse de Miami, rodeados de su familia más cercana. Fue simple, sincero y perfecto, un momento íntimo que honró el amor que ya habían construido y el nuevo capítulo que comenzaba. Ahora están planeando la boda de sus sueños, una celebración en San Juan, Puerto Rico, en septiembre de 2026. Para Rachel y Josué, Puerto Rico es mucho más que un destino de boda. Es un lugar que se siente como un hogar lejos de casa, una tierra que refleja sus propias raíces cubanas con su música, su calidez y su historia, y que al mismo tiempo abraza la vida que han construido juntos en Estados Unidos.

Over the years, they have celebrated milestones, supported one another through challenges, and created an unbreakable sisterhood. Yanet is Rachel’s “Primi” in every sense of the word, and standing by each other in their weddings is a full-circle moment Rachel will always treasure.ESPAÑOLLa amistad de Rachel y Yanet comenzó en 2007, cuando ambas llegaron a EE. UU. y se conocieron en octavo grado. Desde el momento en que Rachel la vio entrar al salón, supo que sería su persona. A lo largo de los años, han celebrado logros, se han apoyado en los retos y han creado una hermandad inquebrantable. Dayana Zamora ENGLISHDayana came into Rachel’s life through Yanet, but quickly became part of her heart. What started as curiosity about “the girl hanging out with my best friend” turned into an inseparable bond. Together with Yanet, they became the “Chichis,” forming a trio that has stood the test of time. Dayana is the reliable friend Rachel can always call, no matter the hour, and their friendship is one of Rachel’s greatest blessings. They realized not only how emotional they both were, but also that they shared the same zodiac sign—Cancers—with birthdays just three days apart. From then on, it felt like reconnecting with a long-lost friend. Maria is the kind of friend who always checks in, makes Rachel feel truly seen, and has become an irreplaceable part of her life. Alejandro Salinas ENGLISHJosué’s friendship with Alejandro goes back to 2008, when he first arrived from Cuba. Alejandro and his family attended the same church that welcomed Josué, and that’s where their bond began. A funny memory Josué often shares is that Alejandro bought him his very first Whopper from Burger King—an experience that quickly became one of their earliest stories together in the U.S. Over the years, their friendship has grown through shared passions like music, cars, engineering, and their faith. Since 2020, their bond has deepened even more, maturing into the kind of brotherhood where they talk every day and share life’s biggest and smallest moments. ESPAÑOLLa amistad de Josué con Alejandro se remonta a 2008, cuando llegó de Cuba. Alejandro y su familia asistían a la misma iglesia que le dio la bienvenida a Josué, y allí comenzó su lazo. Un recuerdo gracioso que Josué siempre comparte es que Alejandro le compró su primera Whopper de Burger King—una experiencia que rápidamente se convirtió en una de sus primeras anécdotas juntos en EE. UU. Con los años, su amistad ha crecido a través de pasiones compartidas como la música, los carros, la ingeniería y su fe. Anier Suarez ENGLISHJosué and Anier’s friendship goes all the way back to elementary school in Cuba, when Anier joined fifth grade at Juan Lefont. What began as a simple bond over having the same bicycle quickly grew into a lifelong friendship that has lasted through distance, time, and every stage of life. Anier introduced Josué to “El Campo,” taking him to his family’s farm where they would climb trees and pick ciruelas—a memory Josué treasures deeply. What Josué admires most about Anier is his humility, calm spirit, and the way he has always been both a loyal friend and part of the family. Even now, with Anier living in Washington State, their connection remains strong, proving that true friendship endures no matter the miles. ESPAÑOLLa amistad de Josué y Anier se remonta a la primaria en Cuba, cuando Anier entró a quinto grado en la escuela Juan Lefont. Lo que empezó como una conexión por tener la misma bicicleta pronto se convirtió en una amistad de por vida que ha resistido la distancia, el tiempo y cada etapa de la vida. Anier le presentó a Josué “El Campo,” llevándolo a la finca de su familia donde trepaban árboles y recogían ciruelas—un recuerdo que Josué atesora profundamente. Manuel Alejandro Alayón ENGLISHJosué and Alejandrito’s story goes back more than 20 years, to their childhood in Cuba. When Alejandrito and his family moved into Josué’s building, their mothers—Yuya, who is Josué’s godmother, and Josué’s mom—quickly formed a bond that turned into family. Growing up side by side, Josué and Alejandrito spent their childhood playing outside, spinning trompos, racing bicycles, and riding in carriolas. They celebrated birthdays together, went on trips, and created countless memories as part of the neighborhood kids. To this day, their friendship has spanned both Cuba and the United States, and Alejandrito remains not just a lifelong friend but true family. ESPAÑOLLa historia de Josué y Alejandrito se remonta a más de 20 años atrás, a su niñez en Cuba. Cuando Alejandrito y su familia se mudaron al edificio de Josué, sus mamás—Yuya, quien es la madrina de Josué, y la mamá de Josué—formaron un lazo que con el tiempo se convirtió en familia. Creciendo lado a lado, Josué y Alejandrito pasaron su infancia jugando afuera, girando trompos, corriendo en bicicletas y montando carriolas. Celebraron cumpleaños juntos, hicieron viajes y crearon incontables recuerdos junto a los niños del barrio. Hasta hoy, su amistad ha abarcado tanto Cuba como Estados Unidos, y Alejandrito sigue siendo no solo un amigo de toda la vida, sino parte verdadera de la familia.
